Are you an experienced Lab Manager looking for a role that combines leadership, safety, and innovation? Join our dynamic chemicals company and play a vital part in managing cutting-edge laboratory facilities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth lab operations, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining a high standard of safety, all while supporting the needs of an exciting, growing business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety First: Deputise for the HSE Manager, ensuring the lab maintains an excellent safety culture and all safety incidents are reported promptly.
  • Lab Management: Organise and schedule equipment and personnel to optimise efficiency, aligning with business needs. Manage equipment maintenance, testing, and new equipment installation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work closely with business leaders to implement lab improvement plans, ensuring the lab operates smoothly and effectively.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day supply of goods and services, liaise with site facilities, and support the technical team to keep the lab running at peak performance.
What You’ll Need:
  • Education & Experience: Minimum BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of lab management experience in a professional research environment.
  • Safety Expertise: Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices; formal safety training (such as IOSH Managing Safely) is a plus.
  • Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, schedule resources, and maintain complex work programmes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience managing scientific equipment (HPLC, Karl-Fisher, UV-Vis, IR, etc.) and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation. A positive, can-do attitude is essential.
